Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa has reportedly signed a five-year extension worth, $135 million. Two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Joey Bosa has signed a five-year extension worth $135 million with the Chargers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.  The deal ties Bosa to Los Angeles for the next six seasons and has $102 million guaranteed, which per ESPN, is a new record for a defensive player.  The No. 3 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft was owed $14.36 million this season.  Bosa reported Tuesday at the team’s headquarters for the veterans' first day of training camp and coronavirus testing. The fourth-year defensive end made the Pro Bowl last season after accumulating 11.5 sacks and 67 tackles. New on SI: 21 NFL Players Test Positive for COVID-19 at Training Camps

The league and the NFLPA agreed that teams can discuss a player's roster status but cannot disclose if they tested positive. The NFLPA announced Tuesday that 21 players have tested positive for COVID-19 at training camp but did not disclose how many were tested. Rookies, quarterbacks, and injured players began arriving at camp last week, while veterans were allowed to report on Tuesday  Once at camp, players and staff members are tested and required to test negative twice before they can enter team facilities.  Players arrive onsite for testing but then must go home for the first 2 days at camp. If a player tests positive and is asymptomatic, he can either return to his team's facility in 10 days or come back after receiving 2 consecutive negative tests within five days of the positive test.  Players that test positive that are experiencing symptoms can return after at least 10 days have passed since the first sign of symptoms and at least 72 hours have passed sinc...

New on SI: NFL Offers Players Deal to Eliminate Preseason Games in 2020

The NFL's proposal includes an offer for a longer training camp before the beginning of the 2019-20 season. The NFL has offered to scrap all preseason games, a person familiar with the decision tells The Associated Press. The players' association had sought no preseason games and the league had reduced the exhibition schedule to two games. But on Monday evening, the NFL said it would eliminate those preseason contests and also would offer players 18 days for acclimation, up from seven days. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the offer has not been made public. Another part of the offer is to provide a means for players concerned about participating in training camp and/or games to opt out and receive a stipend. The union has not yet accepted the offers. Should it do so, both sides would have taken a major step toward starting the season on time.
